Adult classes are offered for adults (and older teens) who seriously want to appreciate the art of ballet through learning proper Vaganova-based ballet technique. These classes also promote the understanding of proper body alignment, development of longer and leaner muscles, general fitness, and self-confidence and better posture for women and men.
These open “drop-in” classes are available at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels and are scheduled only in the mornings.
Classes may be taken on a “drop-in” basis without commitment or pre-registration – just show up at least 30 minutes early to check-in and make payment before entering class. However, since open classes are limited in size, please note that priority for these classes will be given to those who have pre-registered and prepaid.
Strength training is important for a dancer’s overall ability and stamina. Strengthening the body’s opposing muscles is vital to avoid injury. Flexibility work is important so that the dancer’s movement seems effortless and light. The combination of these two objectives in one class helps to create long flexible muscles often seen in Vaganova-trained dancers (rather than short tight ones) consistent with the goal of keeping a ballet dancer’s lines long, beautiful, and strong.
