It was billed as the entertainment event of 1986—the day Russian ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov came to San Diego. It was opening night of the American Ballet Theatre production of Giselle. Nearly every performance was sold out at the Civic Center. The ABT hadn’t been in San Diego since 1978 and it was a big deal to get a production of that caliber here. Dawn Fratangelo reports.
